I'm a teacher and a performer. I have a master's degree in musical theater voice pedagogy from Carthage College and am currently a PhD in music education at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, I attended the school as a teaching assistant and taught a number of courses during my graduate and doctoral studies. I worked as an actor, stage manager, assistant director and choreographer, assistant lighting designer, and prop designer. In 2020, I won the first prize in the vocal music category of the 14th China-Singapore International Music Competition. In 2023, I won the second prize in the NATS competition for graduate students.

As a teacher, I believe that the most important thing for students is to feel comfortable and happy when they come to my class. This will enable students to better receive what I am teaching. Communication is key: when I establish good relationships with students, we will experience better progress and results.

I think all students are unique, so different teaching methods should be used for different students. Due to different learning styles, some methods are useful for one student but not necessarily for another student. I emphasize healthy vocal production: healthy singing should not cause vocal discomfort. What I want students to learn from my teaching is healthy vocal production and freedom of expression in music.
