I have been a passionate and dedicated music educator in San Francisco Bay and Sacramento Areas for the past thirteen years. I studied jazz at American River College before pursuing a bachelor's degree in classical vocal performance, and finally a master's degree in jazz studies at San Jose State University. Performing music has taken me to different places all around the world from singing as a chorister in Vilnius, Lithuania, to recording a fusion EP in Bangalore, to competing in a barbershop quartet event in St. Louis. As a result of my experience as a performer, my knowledge and skills cover a wide variety of genres including classical, musical theatre, jazz, R&B, and popular styles.

As a teacher my goal is to inspire my students to fully engage in their education and hone their skills as musicians. I believe that, irrespective of the genre, a solid foundation of technique and theory are essential for any musician. My teaching is a balance between focusing on the repertoire that inspires students to practice, while also maintaining a strong emphasis on technique and incorporating practical applications of music theory.

While I will maintain a strong emphasis on a solid technical foundation with all of my students, I adapt my actual teaching style to resonate best with the individual student. I have a keen awareness of when to nurture and when to push a student to help them reach their potential. I also make it a point to be crystal clear on how and what to practice at home, so that our lessons will always result in the student being able to apply what was covered during our time together.
