GRAMMY®-winner Danaë Xanthe Vlasse is a half-French/Greek pianist, teacher, composer and producer. She is an MTNA Nationally Certified Teacher and award-winning composer with a degree in Piano Performance, and has been teaching piano to students of all ages since 2005 (online since 2020). As a composer her "real world" experience is an asset to students who seek guidance in the realm of composition and music production. Mrs. Vlasse has released 6 albums of original music, and worked as a producer/contributor on many others, including recording twice with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios in London. She holds honors from several competitions along with the GRAMMYS®. Her music has been performed by internationally-acclaimed singers, instrumentalists, chamber ensembles, and choirs, and has been featured on national television through PBS’ “Front and Center” broadcast. She is a STEINWAY educational partner and recipient of the 2021 STEINWAY TOP PIANO TEACHER AWARD.

I’m dedicated to providing an environment that promotes the highest potential of each student. The focus of lessons is on musical knowledge, technical precision, and artistic expression. These goals serve the purpose of fostering a lifelong enjoyment of music. My teaching is based on the principles of traditional music education. I teach primarily Classical music, but I’m happy to help students explore other genres of music. I encourage students to pursue their own interests so that their lessons are tailored to their passions while addressing foundational concepts of music technique and theory no matter the genre of music they’re learning. I’m patient and empathetic, and I nurture students' progress.

I hold my students accountable in a gentle and encouraging way. I achieve balance by adapting to the ebb and flow of my student’s lives. At the start of our work together (and periodically thereafter) I help students set personal goals and determine the pacing that best suits their needs, then I encourage them to honor their intentions. I tailor instruction to the specific desires of students. I teach: Practicing strategies. Healthy piano technique. Musical expression. Note reading. Memorization. Performance skills. Creative song-writing. Music theory. Production skills.
