Violinist Dorisiya Yosifova is a graduate of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee (M.M.) and Oberlin College (B.M.). Her pedagogy instructors include Mimi Zweig, Rictor Noren, and Darcy Drexler. She also holds a teaching certificate from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Dorisiya is currently on the faculty of the Maud Powell String Institute in Novato, CA, which she founded. She has previously taught at the Community School of Music and Arts, the Community Music Center, the MidPeninsula Music Academy, amongst others in the Bay Area. She was also a Teaching Assistant at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee under Rictor Noren. Dorisiya currently serves as the Principal Second Violinist of the Golden Gate Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and as a First Violinist at the North State Symphony. She also regularly performs with the Stockton Symphony.

As a teacher, Dorisiya strongly believes that developing a solid technical foundation is crucial in every child’s development and plays a major role in their ability to play the instrument. Having strong fundamentals can then enable each student to grow musically and discover their own voice. Dorisiya’s teaching style incorporates elements of both the Suzuki and Traditional methods, allowing for flexibility to fill each student’s individual needs.
