About Me
I was born in Bogota, Colombia. At the age of 9 I started piano lessons. I came to California in 2007 to continue my music studies. In 2011 I started my music degree in American River College under Joe Gilman teachings. Transferred to Sacramento State University to finish my degree in music theory and composition along with piano as my instrument. I studied with Dr Blumberg, Leo Eylar and Dr Lorna Peters and graduated with honors Cum Laude in 2014. Started private music lessons and also started music programs for two different Mexican dance studios. I became director of Grupo Córima which is a professional Mexican folk music group. I started as a guitarist/ violinist and then stayed in the Guitarron position. Currently we get hired for public or private events every year. I am the main arranger and composer of the group. We have produced and also been part of professional Mexican shows across California venues such as the Mondavi center, Gallo center, Harris center among many others.
Me as a Teacher
I consider my self very patient with the students. I focus in their strengths and abilities to learn. I have given lessons all kind of ages too. From four years old to ninety four years old. My 10 + years of teaching all kind of different students of all ages and also a great variety of instruments gives me a great perspective so I can find ways to teach more effectively. I am fun and with lots of energy to share.
My Teaching Style
What I do in the first lessons is to read the student and to find the way the student learns the best. My idea of teaching is to help guide the strengths of the students developing their skills in a natural and joyful way. Here are the instruments that I teach: BEGINNER - INTERMEDIATE Violin; Guitar/electric guitar ; Accordion; Drums. BEGINNER - EXPERT: guitarron. Piano/ keyboard. Music Theory.
